Studying Abroad

How to use this website:
This website is to be used as a tool to help connect students and faculty alike, with a international site interested in an international host site or a sports medicine based study abroad program. All interested host sites and study abroad programs are members of the World Federation of Athletic Trainers and Therapists and have understand the requirements of hosting an international student.
Students and or faculty interested in a foreign host site or program may contact the host site of interest in order start an exchange of communication to faciliate his or her own study abroad experience. This site is designed to provide a means of communication between the student/faculty and the host site. This website does not facilitate the study abroad experience for the interested party, however, it will provide helpful links and or suggestions in order to make the study abroad experience a success.
Host sites will provide:
- An experience in observing and potential practice of sports medicine health care throughout the prearranged stay of their international student/faculty
- A prearranged homestay and or arrangements for housing for the student/faculty near the host site
- Suggestions for means of transportation before or upon arrival of the student/faculty at the host country
- A list of the needed documents in order to travel into the host sites country (i.e. visa, passport, required immunizations, etc...)
Students/Faculty must:
- Conact the interested host site and provide a letter of interests along with a current resume.
- Communicate with the host site in order to establish the framework of the study abroad experience (i.e. gather needed documents, immunizations, establish length of stay, establish goals of stay, etc...)
- If course credit is desired establish contact between an official at the student's university and the host site to discuss feasibility
- Discuss the cost of the stay with the host site
- Purchase all items needed to complete travel (i.e. plane tickets, luggage, etc...)
As previously mentioned, the World Federation of Athletic Trainers and Therapists will only provide the means of communication between the host site and interested students/faculty by providing the contact information of participating host sites found in the study abroad section of this website. This website will also provide helpful linking other programs designed to provide full international internships, discounted student travel and accomodations, and helpful tips and suggestions in order to make your study abroad a success.
