The Athletic Therapy program at The University of Winnipeg was one of first accredited programs by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association in 1999. The program is housed in the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health. Students pursuing this program apply to the enhanced major in Athletic Therapy after two years in the department. Transfer students with eligible prerequisites can also apply after that time. Years three and four are focused on Athletic Therapy courses such as Assessment, Rehabilitation, Therapeutic Modalities, and Sport First Responder. Students are also provided the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in both clinical and field settings. at the University of Winnipeg and in the community. Graduates of the program are eligible to challenge the certification exams with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and earn the right to the title of Certified Athletic Therapist CAT (C) in Canada.
